What Shield ELD does for your trucks

One device and one app cover logging, inspections and fleet visibility.

Automatic HOS logging

Engine hours, miles and driving time come straight from the truck. Duty status, the 30-minute break and every HOS clock update without paperwork.

Alerts before a violation

Drivers and dispatch are warned as a limit approaches, so the stop can be planned before a violation is recorded.

DVIR

Pre-trip and post-trip Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports on the same device, with defects reported to maintenance.

Roadside inspection mode

One screen for the officer with the current day and previous 7 days, plus data transfer on request.

Fleet dashboard

Every driver's status, available hours and open issues in one place for dispatch and safety teams.

Unassigned driving & certification

Review unassigned driving time, assign it to the right driver and keep daily log certification on track.

Getting started takes three steps

  1. 1

    Install the device

The Shield ELD plugs into the truck's diagnostic port and pairs with the driver's phone or tablet.

  2. 2

    Drivers log in the app

Driving time records itself. Drivers set their duty status, complete DVIRs and certify their logs at the end of the day.

  3. 3

    Manage from the dashboard

Dispatch and safety teams follow hours, alerts and inspections for the whole fleet in real time.

Built around the federal ELD rule

Shield ELD follows the technical specifications of the ELD mandate, so records hold up at inspection and during audits.

  • Tamper-resistant records

Original records are always kept, and every edit carries an annotation and an author.

  • Driver-approved edits

Changes proposed by the carrier take effect only after the driver reviews and accepts them.

  • Malfunction and diagnostic events

Required events are detected, recorded and shown to both the driver and the office.

  • Standard data transfer

Records of duty status are transferred in the output format required by the FMCSA.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your answer? Call or email us and a real person will help.

Is Shield ELD registered with the FMCSA?

Yes. The Shield ELD device is on the FMCSA list of registered electronic logging devices and meets the technical requirements of 49 CFR Part 395, Subpart B.

How does Shield ELD record Hours of Service?

The device connects to the truck's diagnostic port and records engine hours, miles and driving time automatically. Drivers change duty status in the app, and the 11-hour, 14-hour, 30-minute break and 60/70-hour clocks update on their own.

What happens during a roadside inspection?

The driver opens inspection mode and shows the logs for the current day and the previous 7 days on the phone or tablet. When the officer requests it, the driver transfers the record of duty status in the format required by the FMCSA.

What if the ELD malfunctions?

The driver notes the malfunction, notifies the carrier within 24 hours and keeps paper logs until the device is repaired. Under FMCSA rules, the carrier has 8 days to repair or replace it, and our support team helps get you back on the device.

Can logs be edited?

Drivers and carriers can propose corrections, but every edit requires an annotation and the original record is always kept. Edits proposed by the carrier take effect only after the driver reviews and approves them.
